Overview

Rheumatoid arthritis, commonly shortened to RA, is a chronic autoimmune disorder typically characterized by pain and inflammation in the small joints. Untreated, RA may introduce complications that impact the lungs, eyes, bones, and heart. Affecting an estimated 1.3 million US adults, RA represents the most common type of autoimmune arthritis. Although onset commonly occurs between the ages of 30 and 50, RA can manifest at any age with women accounting for approximately 75% of diagnosed cases.

RA is a treatable condition that can often be managed in the primary care setting. This podcast series strives to improve patient outcomes by increasing the knowledge, comprehension, and performance of primary care physicians in managing RA, especially when treating underserved populations.
